WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

​

Hypnotherapy is the use of a hypnotic trance in a therapeutic session. An altered state of consciousness (hypnotic trance) is induced in order to access subconscious information that may be useful for you in understanding and modifying your behaviour.

WHAT WILL IT FEEL LIKE TO BE HYPNOTIZED?

​

Altered states of consciousness are natural states that occur with any activity where you are not completely in the here and now. This can include sleeping, day-dreaming, remembering past events, or thinking about the future. And so, some researchers believe that we are in an altered state of consciousness for 90% of our day. Therefore, because it is so natural to us, most adults find it easy and comfortable to be hypnotized. You will feel as though you are in a state of relaxation between awake and asleep. Mind awake, body relaxed.

WILL I GIVE AWAY MY CONTROL WHEN I AM HYPNOTIZED?

​

I assure you that you are in complete control, and can, at any time, just open your eyes, and come out of a trance.  When in trance, I access your subconscious mind, which stores all the information about your life journey.  As your subconscious mind (SCM) is your ultimate protector, I am only able to give suggestions to your SCM. It will not allow you to do anything that you would not do when in a fully conscious state. You are completely safe in the hands of a qualified hypnotherapist. And you are in control.

HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HELP ME?

PREPARATION FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT 

 

As you want to be in a relaxed state during our session, with nothing that may interfere with easily going into a safe hypnotic trance:

​

  • do not drink coffee for at least 3 hours prior to your appointment time

  • do not use any recreational drugs for at least 24 hours

  • do not drink alcohol for at least 12 hours

  • Wear comfortable clothing
